About
If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Sandpoint, Idaho, you simply cannot miss a visit to 1908 Saloon. Nestled at 222 N 1st Ave, this delightful eatery has quickly become a local favorite, revered for its laid-back vibe and an impressive menu filled with savory delights. As a reviewer for Foodjoyy, I've had the pleasure of indulging in the offerings here, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
Stepping into 1908 Saloon feels like a warm welcome, a chill dive bar atmosphere where the walls are adorned with unique antiques and the air hums with the sound of good music. This establishment doesn't just serve food; it offers an experience—whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a relaxed evening with friends. The hearty menu features a range of options, from tantalizing shareables to mouthwatering sandwiches, all crafted with high-quality ingredients.
Highlighting the Menu
Among the shareables, the Cowboy Bites caught my attention—cream cheese, corn, bacon, and jalapeno, breaded and fried to perfection, topped with cotija cheese, pico de gallo, and chipotle crema. At just US$14.00, these bites are a fantastic way to kick off your meal and ignite your palate. The House Smoked Wings are also a standout, served with a variety of sauces that cater to every preference; my favorites were the spicy raspberry and garlic parmesan. Both dishes ensured that our taste buds were adequately excited.
When it comes to burgers, 1908 Saloon truly shines. The 1908 Burger, featuring an 8oz natural beef patty topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, and house burger sauce, is simply a class act. Priced at US$16.00, it comes with your choice of crispy fries or sweet potato fries, the latter being a personal favorite due to their perfect blend of sweet and savory. The Mushroom Swiss Burger is another option that will leave you raving. It's generously laden with sautéed mushrooms and creamy Swiss cheese, making each bite a flavor-packed experience at just US$18.00.
What’s more impressive is the reverence the kitchen holds for flavor without inflating the prices, ensuring that families can enjoy a delightful meal without fretting over the bill. Customers, like Chelsea and Tara, have praised the quality and flavor, lauding the burgers as 'the BEST' they've encountered, and I wholeheartedly agree.

“ The BEST burgers, hands down, no matter which one you get. I had the Outlaw....bacon, crispy onions, bbq sauce - amazing. Several in our party had the 1908 Burger, one had the pulled pork sandwich (they smoke the pork in-house), and one had the blue burger. Literally the best burgers we have had. The pork belly bits and smoked wings are really delicious too. The food did not disappoint! ”
“ We stopped here on a whim and do NOT regret the decision at all. We got burgers (the outlaw and the bison) and the pork belly for an appetizer. The pork belly was crispy and flavorful, and the burgers were juicy, cooked to perfection and delicious. Sarah was welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. The music really set the mood for the whole place. If you're ever in standpoint and want a great burger and cold tapped beer come here. ”
“ Enjoyed my lunch here. Was good and hot. The service was good. The server was friendly and accommodating. The prices were nice as well. ”
“ A chill little dive bar located on the main stretch downtown. They offer a full menu and do music events throughout the week and weekends. The drinks are strong. Service was great. Friendly and available. Definitely would go back and visit again when they have a planned event. Not sure about the food but they have quite a few options. ”
“ Really great food, with even better prices! Family friendly with cool antiques on the wall. ”
“ Went there for apps and drinks on our mini honeymoon and had a good time! Nice local bar ”
“ Hands down the best “bar food” I’ve ever had. Always a pleasant experience in here and the bartenders rock. The owner is an amazing chef and you can tell the detail in the menu and the food presentation. Everything here is delicious, but th sweet potato fries are the best I’ve ever had. ”
“ Found this little gem in Sandpoint. I highly recommend ordering the burger and beer pairing for the month. This month it is the Luau Burger (Teriyaki BBQ, Kahlua Style pork, grilled pineapple, macaroni salad, lettuce, onions on Hawaiian bun) paired with Big Swell IPA. I opted for the Dickshooter white Porter instead. My husband had the South West Burger. So good! Best vibe too. Everyone should check it out! ”
